Subject: policy -- credit where credit is due

Finally, this one's not specific to XP development, but it's so important
that I can't resist banging the drum again.
The lifeblood of any Open Source project is the flood of contributions by
volunteers all over the world. The worst thing we could do is use *any* of
those contributions without giving proper credit to the person who did that
work for us.
For some reason, people are pretty shy about asking for credit, even despite
the following FAQ:
http://www.abisource.com/mailinglists/abiword-dev/01/March/0026.html
Even so, we've taken pride in making sure that we do so for them:
http://www.abisource.com/mailinglists/abiword-dev/01/August/0176.html
Thus, I'd like to once again encourage any and all AbiWord developers to
ensure that no patch gets checked in without the relevant credit showing up
in Bonsai *and* CREDITS.TXT.
Thanks,
Paul
PS: If manually updating the credits file is too much of a burden when
committing patches, then it might even be worth bonging patches for being
"too shy". We ask people to resubmit patches for lots of other valid
reasons, and this reason seems just as important. ;-)
