HELP WANTED -- release writers for AbiWord

Subject: HELP WANTED -- release writers for AbiWord

At release time, it's usually pretty difficult to pry AbiWord developers
away from coding tasks. Thus, the explanations we give users about what's
in the release and why it's cool can be pretty, uh, skimpy.

Fortunately, people use our product to write with, and we'd like to take
advantage of *your* prose expertise to help improve those explanations.

job description
---------------
There are a number of places where the current state of the product gets
described. These include:

  - release notes
  - release announcements
  - change logs
  - feature lists
  - download / install directions
  - etc.

Some of these are included in the product, and others are on the website.
(In fact, a good first step would be to get an exhaustive list of all these
places, remove any that aren't needed, and spruce up the rest.)

As we get close to each release, we need one or more writers to review all
that content, compare it against what the new release will do, and update
them accordingly. [1]

status
------
So far, the following people have volunteered to be writers:

  David Chart

However, he'd *definitely* like some help:

If I've missed anyone, let me know.

bottom line
-----------
If you're willing to be an AbiWord writer, please send us a message at
abiword-dev@abisource.com (you'll need to subscribe first), introducing
yourself, and describing which content you'd like to be responsible for.

Thanks!

Paul
motto -- many hands make light work

[1] As David will attest, there are many other writing jobs available, but
at the moment I'm just recruiting for help with the quick-turnaround jobs
needed at release time.
