My plans are for the 0.9.4 release to have the NSIS installer for AbiWord
that Just Works(tm). I wasn't planning on tweaking the script file for much
customization but rather getting to the point that the installer does
exactly what the ASK system does currently. (At the moment, StartMenu item,
Desktop Icon, and clipart are considered optional). As Alan pointed out,
the script file will allow basic Registry settings, so I thought to add to
it initial file associations.
Phase two (sometime after 0.9.4 release) would be potentially to modify the
NSIS code for more AbiWord specific customization (i.e. graphic sidebar,
more dialog pages, etc...)
Phase three (when ducks are in a row - if ever) formalized localization.
See below for non-formal localizaiton.
Note - I am not opposed to letting others speed up this process, but this
was my though processes.

I am sorry I opened the localizable installer can of worms. I was talking
of future possibilites and not immediate plans. I was thinking along the
lines of let's say a French Win32 developer deciding to create a French
version of the NSIS script such that when setup_abiword.exe is launched, all
the installation text and messages would be in French.
