I don't wanna turn my first post to this forum into a
flame, but I think you are a bit unfair with these
guys. The error described above just means that
whoever packed the binaries had a different version of
glibc than you. That doesn't mean Abiword cannot work
with the older version ( AFAIK ). Maybe you might
download source, ./configure; make; su; make install;
and even package the result and upload it to help
other Slackware 7.1 users.

If the version happend to be older and yours were
backward compatible, it might be fixed with a link (
ln -s lib_in_bin lib_in_your_machine ) but odds
are that won't help you in this case. Regretably,
this is the Linux version of DLL Hell, but I think
Abi developers are not to blame.
