linking problems on debian

I want to use the most advanced abi version, i.e. Gnome version :)
But I cannot do so because of simple dependencies:
libglade0-dev depends on libxml1-dev
abiword uses libxml2-dev and libglade0-dev
libxml1-dev and libxml2-dev conflict.

So I compile with libxml2, then install libxml1 and libglade, compile again
missing *.o 's, but of course cannot link.

Should I disable libxml2 in order to compile? Is there a any way around this
problem?

Using debian unstable....
