Hi folks,
I have put some work into the autoconf framework. It should now be workable
for Unix users, I think. It works for me now :-)
Major enhancements include the automatic configuration and compilation of
all needed peer trees, and the addition of a (working) `make install'.
On the to-do list:
* Add `make install' support for non-Unix platforms (see earlier mail);
* Solve bugs 1449 (libgal detection) and 1453 (gnome-config detection),
and perhaps 1344 (make distclean deletes makefiles)
* Regarding bug 1344, make sure that make [dist]clean also recurses
into peer directories
* Get some feed-back to see whether it works for others too
