I agree largely with what you are saying about the itch being an
important driving force, but I still think we should not branch before
1.0. If we all really pull hard on this, the period for which will not be
adding new features is going to be relatively short, six to eight
weeks. I have to say for myself that I like adding new features and
hate fixing bugs, and it requires a lot of discipline not to do the
former at the expense of the latter (and I am not succeeding). I
think that if for that short period of time we all will be in the same
boat, it will make it easier for all of us, and we will be all able to get
back to adding new features sooner.
