Hi,

I am not saying that unimelb should distribute abiword (and at that
price, you _are_ being totally screwed :( ) or abisource.

There are plenty of other places.

I know they are in big trouble, and I also wish the best to them.
However, they have decided to put proprietary software to the use of
free software developers, and that is a betrayal of the original nature
of sourceforge, and risks creating a lockin on developers who use those
features.

Also, the means to migrate a project out of sourceforge, have been
removed.

I would not have any problem with them had they sold proprietary
software.

Happilly we're not locked on sourceforge, since they are simply a
download spot for abiword.

It is just that they chose to give Free software developers tools that
are non Free, and that breaks the spirit of freedom.

I hope they change their minds and return the proprietary software out
of sourceforge.net onto sourceforge enterprise, or whatever they call
it, thus keeping Free the collaborative development site for Free
Software that they created (and I much rejoice the original project).

Hugs, rms
