Hi Folks,
I've had a chance to talk to a lot of developers on IRC recently
regarding when to do a feature freeze.
The concensus was to to a "soft freeze" post 0.9.5.
What does this mean you ask?
I think a good working definition is that if you are CURRENTLY working
on a new feature for abiword that is not a plugin tell us now and we might
left it in post 0.9.5.
Here is a list of the features that are OK to be included post
0.9.5 that I can think of right now.
1. More image types. Dom+?
2. image dialog for scaling, Dom
3. Move Perl scripting to a plugin - Joaquin, Dom
4. Make plugin's work on Windows - Micheal.
5. Allow nested lists to exclude some previous levels - Matti.
So folks please tell us now if you're currently working a on a non-plugin
new feature otherwise you'll have to wait till post 1.0 to get it into the
main tree.
Of course bug fixes to existing features are extremely welcome at all
times.
New plugins are fine as long as they don't require changes to the
abiword tree.
Cheers
Martin
