I'm working on cleaning up the squiggle code, and thereby also the
pesky ">eor"-assertion.

I've come a long way, but I still need to rewrite some code. It gets
much better, really.

I'm only committing this now because I don't like having too many
changes in my tree. These are mostly comment changes, but also a few
code cleanups.

Now I'm just hoping CVS can figure out how to merge it all back in, or
I'll be spending another hour fixing diff problems ;)
