    I think this would be an excellent position for someone to have. And, I
    think that whoever takes the position should decide two things soon:

    1. A calendar for 1.0.x releases. Once a month - 2 months seems about
    right to me.

    2. A more detailed set of criteria for what checkins are allowed on the
    branch. Personally, I think that after 1.0.2, no checkins should be
    allowed on the branch without branch maintainer's approval. This will
    ensure the continued stability of the branch.

    And we already have a volunteer. Yay!
