    I don't know how stable it is or isn't, it more or
    less worked for me (still kind of picky). Yes the
    HTML importer is a plugin, whereas the XHTML importer
    at least was builtin (haven't had a chance to look
    over the cool importer/exporter separation to know
    whether it still is or not).

    The HTML plugin should be available as part of the
    importer/exporter plugin set, and possibly available
    individually on sourceforge. If not you can get
    it from my site (except for the bugfixed ones, same
    exact files) http://abiword.pchasm.org/ in the
    release builds section.
