Personally, I feel that we should follow the GNOME HIG on GNOME, and the
Microsoft example (or their HIG) on windows. Similarly, the Aqua HIG on
the mac. I think consistency with the other applications is more
important than consistency across platforms. People using AbiWord on
more than one OS will already be dealing with substantial interface
differences.

Yes, AbiWord does quite well on a number of these things. But we need
to be uniformly good, and consistent.
