    Thanks to all who replied! Unfortunately, I am especially pressed for
    time for the next 2 months -- I took a stab at writing something based
    on the replies but I'm sure it can be improved -- take a shot at it --
    as you make the wording more "authoritative" you can take out my
    personalizations (use of "I", etc.). I did "cite" contributions by
    Alan and Frank, but I'm not sure I used your preferred phrasing.
