In case any one has forgotten or wasn't around for the previous grammar
checking discussions I'm going to repeat information you probably
already know.

Gnu Style and Diction although not strictly grammar checkers would
certainly be good enough to use as engines for proof of concept and will
be of general use too (if I recall correction stlye can count the amount
of unique words used) particularly for serious writers.

The link grammar checker was previously suggested as a something we could
use but at the time it did not have a suitable license although they were
threatening to release using a more flexible. license. In February 2004
they did. The license allows more freedom than the LGPL, it is allows you
to do pretty much what you want with it but you must link to their website
if you use it as part of an online/web based service.
