I see. The reason i've been bringing this up is that i'm ending up
hitting the close button without applying, and therefore losing
modifications.

The HIG says that the bottom right button has to be the "default
button". Strictly interpreted this would mean that abi's default in that
case is not to apply (well, exaggerating of course). More pragmatically
we should probably ponder whether it's useful for a greater number of
our users being able to edit multiple documents or having the
convenience saving an extra click.

Maybe wiring both dialogs for auto apply would be an appropriate
solution for multi-document editing and convenience? I won't be able to
tackle this for 2.2 though.
