Built and running (PPC)

Well, DUH... I didn't get the abidistfiles tarball. "make canonical" now
does what it should.

I have a couple of questions/beefs/statements... as usual. :-)

There are apparantly a bunch of environment variables that one can use
to control the make. Are these documented anywhere? I discovered one of
these when trying to "make distribution" --

Error -- ABI_BUILD_VERSION is not set for this build.
Error -- Set this variable before building packages
Error -- for distribution.

If I understand the makefiles correctly, doing this should build a
binary RPM that I can share with my fellow PPC users (and there would
be much rejoicing). Yes? If not, I'll just whack up a tarball out of my
/opt/AbiSuite directory and pass that around. There should still be much
rejoicing....

Next, I figured out what was happening with the "can't find fonts.dir in
/home/larry/fonts" message. I stumbled across the Unix Font Archives
file, set the fonts & dictionary dirs to the right stuff in the Prefs
file, no more tantrums from AW. But when I start AbiWord, it still
complains about:

Illegal format hash table /opt/AbiSuite/dictionary/american.hash -
expected magic 0x9602, got 0x296

What's the fix? This apparantly disallows on-the-fly spell check, which
won't kill me but I'm sure it's supposed to work like it did in 0.5.5.

Enough for now, I'm off to bed.

Larry
