The Abi window is jumping to 32bpp and is then fine... it just makes all
other windows look funnny :) GIMP does the same... I've fixed my
problem now by buying Metro-X but for anyone else it might be
interesting to know why it does this?

My setup was
ATI Rage IIC OEM
Proview 17" Monitor
Linux Slackware 7
XFree86 running in 8bpp
