    Actually, they don't. StarOffice/OpenOffice sort-of follows the RTF 1.2
    standard, which is about 10 years old now. They have also made some
    extensions onto the RTF 1.2 spec that they use in import/export, such as
    their odd handling of images. From my discussions with the OO
    developers, there is no intention of them working on the RTF filters
    ever again. Period. They closed bugs that Hub and I filed against their
    RTF importer and exporter as basically "WON'T EVER FIX NOR DO WE WANT
    TO". All of their time and energy in this area is being pushed onto
    improving their DOC importer and exporter.

    Abi does its best to conform to versions 6 and 7 of the RTF standard
    (which includes being able to read earlier versioned documents), and
    aims for full compatibility with the de-facto standard, Microsoft Word.
    OpenOffice, on the other hand, does not.
