    Hi,

In order to test a new logiciel runing under kernel 2.4, I was obliged
to cut my old Mdk-7.2 to install a Mdk-8.0 which was in my boxes...
Immediately I was wanting to re-install AbiWord, ...
    - Create a new directory "tampon"
    - Copy of << abiword-0.99.5.tar.gz >>
    - tar xzvf abi*
    - and so on...
... and since that black hour, I am crying as a very old woman ... ;-((

Compiling the v-0.99.5 = a black black disaster..., variables out,
    and so on, I cut....

    Ok I take my good, easy-to-install (in tar.gz) v-0.99.3
And there, still a black black disaster...
I am obliges to copy four files from "psiconv" to "ac-helpers' ....
(the only bad memory of my first install) and after, a festival...

    ================ End of "./autogen.sh" ==================

    Creating configure...
    configure.in:424: warning: AC_TRY_RUN called without
default to allow cross compiling .....
    You can run ./configure now.
    (it is certainly black humour!...)

================= End of "make" (part) ==================

I am without voice, because :

    [root@localhost abi]# locate zlib.h
    -----------------^^^^^^^^^
    /root/Desktop/Corbeille/abiword-0.99.5/nsis/zlib/zlib.h
    /usr/share/doc/python-docs-2.0/lib/module-zlib.html

    /tampon/abiword-0.99.3/zlib/zlib.html
    /tampon/abiword-0.99.3/nsis/zlib/zlib.h

    [root@localhost abi]#
    ----------------
It is not "zlib.h" which lacks...

My question is : why an install under a distrib is it possible
without difficulties, and the same tar.gz is it without results
in another version ? The kernel changing ???
Yes, but that, it is not very good for Linux!!!
