ABIWORD Errors - AbiWord 1.0.2
______________________________________
I have just tried to install the latest version of
your fine product AbiWord 1.0.2. I am using
Red Hat 7.3, and I downloaded to rpm package
for this distro. (I did get all three packages:
main, font, and clipart).
After installing, I am having many problems
running the application (using Gnome):
..................................................
It will not launch from the Gnome menu.
It will not launch from the Desktop Icon.
In both cases, the path is /usr/bin/abiword,
which is a symbolic link for:
/usr/share/AbiSuite/bin/AbiWord
Now, it WILL launch from a command line, but by
"root" only. When launching this way, a
warning appears in the command line:
GnomeUI-Warning **: While connecting to
session manager: Authentication Rejected,
reason : None of the authentication
protocols specified are supported and
host-based authentication failed.
Now, when trying to lauch from the command line,
by a normal user, I get the following errors.
AbiWord was not able to add its fonts to the
X Font path. This does not mean that there is
anything wrong with your system, but you will
need to modify your font path manually.
Please see "Unix Font Path Problem" in the FAQ
section of the AbiWord help file for more detailed
information, including instructions on how to turn
this warning off.
________
|__ OK __|
I click "OK", and then the AbiWord splash-screen displays.
I then get an error window stating:
Application "/usr/share/AbiSuite/bin/AbiWord_d"
(process 14702) has crashed due to a fatal error.
(Segmentation fault)
Please visit the GNOME Application Crash Page
for more information
Now, after I was able to launch AbiWord under root, I DID
go into preferences, and turn off the afore-mentioned
font-path warning, but that error message still pops up,
when launching by a normal user.
I have installed several different editions of this fine
application, both Linux and Windows editions, and
have never had a problem until now. I was hoping
you might provide some assistance.
Thank you,
Greg Heilers
