Abiword & Unicode

Hi,
I am trying to get Abiword to write, export and print in ISO-8859-2. While I
managed to do the former by copying ISO-8859-2 fonts to Abiwords font
directory, I am not able to make Abiword export and print in normal
characters -- it seems to convert anything it touches into Unicode. RTFs
filtered out with a simple shell script can be read by Word, but
ghostscript sees only little '°' (circles) where the special characters
should be. The characters in the postscript file seem to be two byte.

I don't know much about those things, and I would welcome very much any
suggestions and RTFM-type redirections. Being naive as I am I tried
converting the funny character pairs Abiword puts in the abw XML into
normal iso-8859-2 characters, but in that case Abiword promptly refuses to
import the file (which is another issue where Abiword behaves like Word
though it could behave more robust and do the best out of the worst job).

Best regards,
j.
