Please phrase your criticism carefully, David chart works really hard on
the documentation, if you want to make/suggest suggest changes to the
documentation (ideally submit diff files) i am sure they will be
considered and probably included. You might want to file a bug report and
attach your improvements. Please dont say they are useless, say what is
wrong, why it is wrong and how it can be fixed ideally get involved do
your best to provide the fix.

both, it depends on what version you are using the default is ispell so it
is unlikely that you are using pspell unless you have deliberately tried
to get a pspell version of abiword
(i may as well point out that Mac Hardware, PPC is different from PC
hardware, x86 it is just another little thing you have to watch out for).

it is about time winzip learned how to open RPMs if you ask me.
There is a project underway that will create a dialog and prompt users to
download any spellchecker dictionary they might be missing.
Hopefully it will make life a lot easier in future.
