Re: Abi 1.0.3 will not load images & the spellcheck spouts gobbledy-gook!

Thanks everyone for your advice. I installed all the -devels that seemed
appropriate and that solved the business of missing GAL, print, xpm and
gnome-vfs-config. The only way I could get rid of the complaint about missing
-lXi was to track it down to XFree86 static libs and install that - which did
the job. (./configure --disable-static, make UNIX_CAN_BUILD_STATIC=0, and make
UNIX_CAN_BUILD_STATIC=0 install were all no good). Abi now loads but crashes
immediately with a mass of complaints about incompatible libpngs!!

In the end I did ./configure and make ABI_OPT_GNOME=1, both ending without
error messages but the end of make install is:

As Terry Wogan might say: "Is it me?"

Can anyone help me further or do I have to look for another word processor? I
had this same incompatible libpng problem with gtksee and sodipodi, both of
which were cured by compiling from source. Why is Abiword proving so difficult?

    John
