I've installed version 1.02 of AbiWord on Mandrake 8.1 using an RPM from
the Ximian website. I uninstalled version 0.92 of AbiWord (the one that
shipped with Mandrake 8.1) and, following previous advice on this list,
deleted the .AbiSuite directory from my home directory. I installed
AbiWord 1.02 without any problems but could not get the spellchecker to
work, with the language set to English (UK) or English (US). Each time
the program returned the message "Could not load the dictionary for the
XXX language". So I downloaded the abispell-en-GB rpm from SourceForge
and installed that. I selected English (UK) as my language, but again
the spellcheck facility in AbiWord reported that it was unable to load
the dictionary (in this case the en-GB dictionary). I have verified that
the british.hash file is in the /usr/share/AbiSuite/dictionary
directory.
Any advice on how to resolve this problem would be much appreciated.
Many thanks,
Chris Abrams.
