Change cursor shape in overwrite mode

    Hi;

    It's me, the insert/overwrite mode guy, again.

    I was using Nedit today & I accidentally bumped the "insert"
    key on my keyboard.

    The cursor changed from a line between characters to a box
    covering a character.

    I knew instantly what had happened, and I tapped the "insert"
    key again & kept on going.

    This seems like the ideal way to handle this.

    Thank you for your time.

    PS. Nedit also has a menu option "Preferences --> Overwrite" with
    the "insert" hot-key spelled out. Seems like a good idea.
