I am trying to compile AbiWord 1.99.5 from the source on a machine
running RedHat 8.0. When I try to compile GTK+-2.0 for AbiWord, I get
the following:
checking for glib-2.0 >= 2.0.6 atk >= 1.0.1 pango >= 1.0.1... Package
pango was
not found in the pkg-config search path.
Perhaps you should add the directory containing `pango.pc'
to the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable
No package 'pango' found
I am new to compiling and don't know how to find the "PKG_CONFIG_PATH
environment variable" to add the directory. I already have pango. Is the
PKG_CONFIG_PATH in the GTK configure script? What do I look for?
I would be grateful for any help, realizing the question is not directly
about AbiWord. (But I have to have GTK 2.0 to build AbiWord!)
Thanks,
Ted Parks
