What problem are you trying to solve? (other the specific detail of the
Abiword.Profile obviously) Running abiword on a portable drive or
something?

I dont think this specific question has ever come up before but I think
there have been some efforts to get abiword to work on portable devices (I
remember a feature request about running off an Iomega Click drive, and
I've run abiword directly off a floppy myself).

There is a trick that might work, you might be able to use the command
prompt to

  set %homedir%=c:/putprofileherefolder/
REM and then run abiword in the same console window
  abiword

which I would expect to work but if it doesn't we should be able to work
something out.
