6.85MB seems rather large and kinda crappy.

I used UPX to compress Abiword.exe and got it down to less than 1.44 MB
(that was Abiword 1.0 and I know quite a few things have changed since
then but I wouldn't have expected that big a jump in size)

Which files are you including?

I'm not sure I understand why you have created an installer you should be
able to run abiword directly in place on the thumb drive.

I wouldn't have expected the registry entries from Abiword itself, I
thought all the registry messing got done in the isntaller (which is not
necessarily a good thing).

What I suggested was off the top of my head from memory without a copy of
abiword available to check it. If USERPROFILE works then go with it even
if wrapping binaries with batch scripts is a nasty evil hack I'm glad it
will do until we can come up with a better solution.

Is ignoring them not an option?
I suppose you could make a custom build and disable them.

Now that you have admitted what you are trying to do it is much more
likely that developers will be willing to make changes to accomodate you.
If you can track down where in the code this his happening we might be
allowed disable them.

Always intersting to see abiword used in new and unusual ways.

Thanks for using Abiword.
