I started with the same document, modified it in both AbiWord and Open
Office and saved it in all of the formats supported by each of the
applications. Here are the results:
.doc file saved in AbiWord: Error in Documents To Go
.rtf file saved in "old" format in AbiWord: Error in Documents To Go
.rtf file saved in AbiWord: Error in Documents To Go
.doc file saved in Open Office: No error, converted without issue
.rtf file saved in Open Office: Error in Documents To Go
MS Word/WordPad do something different with .rtf files that Documents To Go
must have in order to convert the document properly. The AbiWord .doc is
also missing something required in order to convert properly.
Support for the .doc format in either OO or AbiWord is not 100% creating a
file in any of the three products and opening it in each will present
slightly different views. Bullets, for example, seem to be problematic
between the three.
I doubt that DataViz will do much with this as to them it would not be a
"bug" they advertise compatibility with MS Office/Word, not Open Office or
AbiWord.
