I think you mean WordPerfect 9 is the migration (or port) from Windows
and Corel WP 8 is the one that worked well on Linux. see:

I think those versions are way too old to make work on SuSE 9.1
though. Corel has decided to update the old version and sell it again
starting in April. see:

But we need a solution that is not five months away. And I think it
would be nice to use Abiword since it is open source and works with MS
Word.
