Actually, I ran the regular configure, make and make
install commands in the abiword-plugins folder. This
created a /usr/local/lib/Abiword2.4/plugins folder and
installed all plugins except the grammar checker.
After, all installed plugins showed up in the plugin
window in the Tools menu. Then, I compiled the
abigrammar in the abiword-plugins folder and installed
it. This placed two files in the
/usr/local/lib/Abiword2.4/plugins directory, namely
“libAbiGrammar.la and libAbiGrammar.so”. However,
nothing like that appears in the plugin window in the
Tools menu.
I also downloaded the link-grammar package from the
link you gave me; complied and installed the package
which installed a bunch of files in the
/usr/local/share/link-grammar/en folder; but the
grammar checker still doesn't show up in the plugins
window. This is pretty confusing.
