Things can often look a bit wackey if you have the Zoom set to page width.
Changing the Zoom to something like 100/150/200 should look a lot better.

There might be more to it than quirks in the Zoom behaviour but at
least you can quickly try that out first and maybe some one can come up
with a better answer later if that is not the problem you are seeing.
