Please try to use the subject line when using email as it makes it easier
and quicker for us to know what you might want and how we might best help
you.

I wont be able to address the Mac specific issues but I'll do my best to
help you until one of the Mac experts has time to respond.

Always helps to provide details like that (and I assume you are running
the latest abiword 2.4.1)

You can view the User Manual online if you like
http://www.abisource.com/support/manual/
Abiword user manual in English
http://www.abisource.com/help/en-US/
and the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) section of the web site may also
be of some use to you

not sure what might have happened there ...
> Secondly, how do I edit the default template
Not sure where exactly it is stored but you should be looking for a file
called Normal.awt (and depending on what you want to do with the template
you might find more information in the FAQ).
> and default save (I want to automatically save to microsoft word file).
We strongly advise against using anything but the Abiword format as the
default save format as it is impossible to guarantee all features will be
preserved no matter how hard Abiword developers have worked to avoid
problems. If you are determined to do it anyway despite the warnings it
is possible to do but only if you are willing to get out a text editor and
edit your Abiword.Profile as explained in the FAQ (and yes I am
intentionally not making it any easier).
> Finally, how do I donate to the continued work of this gem of a program
The most important thing you can do is tell FJF (Frank) and Hub how great
they are, I dont think they ever get tired of people saying nice things
about them (and they tend to get a lot of flack from Mac users if
everything isn't perfect). Your suggestions and bug reports are useful
too.
If you want to contribute financially one way of doing that is by donating
through PayPal
http://www.abisource.com/contribute/
Hope that helps get you started, if you need more detailed help let
us know and someone else will probably answer later in more detail or
about the Mac specific issues I wasn't able to help with.
Sincerely
Alan Horkan
