I had a similar problem with my ISP's web server and OpenOffice *.sxw format.
I have docs available in various formats (including .sxw) for students to
download and print. The server would not allow .sxw files to be downloaded -
it said they didn't EXIST! The server is running MS IIS server.
REASON: I discovered that MS IIS server does not recognize .sxw as a
legitimate MIME type, and any such files are treated as suspicious.
SOLUTION: I renamed the files from, e.g., course_outline.sxw to
course_outline.sxw.doc. Students can download the files and rename them.
