Always suggest corretions (spelling)

Hi,

I've just downloaded Abiword and am blown away that this is a free
Word Processor! I noticed under Tools>Preferences>Spelling there is a
box for always suggest corrections. How does this work and how do I
activate it? I've tried to click in this box but I can't select it (box
is light grey instead of black).
Please could you assist with this query.
