Importing big jpeg files into a document

Hi,

I am importing photos (jpeg files) into my Abiword documents. It work
fine for files up to around 1Mo, but for big files, like 3Mo jpeg
pictures taken with my digital camera, it does not work. I do not even
have the preview in the brower when selecting the file. I have a message
"error importing file"

I am using Abiword 2.4.6, with Fedora 8.

Anyone knows how to solve this ? I want to make document with some high
definition photos... (it work OK with openoffice, but when i import 2 or
3 photos 3Mo each, i end up with a 50Mo document !)
