Hi. I'm running Linux Mandrake 8.2. I'm currently using the KDE desktop.
A couple of days ago I downloaded both the GTK and Gnome RPMs for
AbiWord 1.0.2 as well as the rpm for AbiWord fonts 1.0.2.
On my first install attempt I used the Gnome RPM and was told to insert
the Mandrake installation disk, which I did. It proceeded to install
version 0.9.something, Which, even though it appeared on the Gnome menu,
simply would not open. I further discovered that having done the
"installation" I was no longer able to do any cut or copy and paste to
or from Evolution, my email client. So I uninstalled AbiWord and my cut
and paste capabilities were restored.
Today I tried installing the GTK RPM and got the following error
message:
"libping.so.2 is needed to install AbiWord1.0.2" So I stopped the
installation.
I then tried the same thing with the Gnome RPM and got the following
error message:
"libcrypto.so.2"
"libping.so.2"
"libssl.so.2 Needed to install AbiWord."
Once again I aborted the installation.
I'm very new to Linux, so forgive me if the answer should be apparent
Any and all advice would be welcome. TIA
Langsley
