    Thanks for the feedback, folks.

No, I don't have an Insert key either :(

Anyone know how to emulate the Insert key on a PowerMac G4 with OS X 10.2.3 and Apple X11?

BTW, I use overtype mode to do ASCII guitar tablature. I start with blank tablature and use the arrow keys to navigate around the tablature form and I can very conveniently fill in the notes in overtype mode. Works great, and if I could get it to work in abiword, I could dump MS Word.

    Here's a short tablature example:

      C
    1 | | | | 2 | | | | 3
    |-3-5-3-0-3-5-3-0-|-3-5-3---0-------|
    |-----------------|-------4---1-----|
    |-----------------|-------------2-0-|
    |-----------------|-----------------|
    |-----------------|-----------------|
    |-----------------|-----------------|
