    Try a debug build.

    Pass --enable-debug in the configure script.

    ./configure --enable-debug

    The try running it under gdb..

    gdb AbiWord-2.0
    run

    And when it crashes type "where" in the gdb consol.

    That will tell us whre the problem is.

    Are you using apple's built-in X-server? That is know to have problems
    with modern applications that use font-config.
