Newbie: Page numbers

Hello.

This is my first message and i would like to greet to everybody.

Well, I need to create a footnote in a document where it appears the
page number and the total number of pages of this document, something
like Page 1/6 on page 1, Page 2/6 on page 2 and so on (supposing the
document has 6 pages).

The first page of this document is the cover page, so it doesn't have
to get a page number.

I've done this operation:
   1. First of all I created the document inserting a page break (with
insert/breaks/sections/new page) after the cover page.
   2. Then I inserted the page numbers (insert/page numbers...) as a footer.
   3. Now I tried Format/header&footers... and then selected different
header on first page, different footer on first page and restart page
number on new sections (so the cover page doesn't get numbered).
  4. Finally I added the total number of pages to the footer (Page
1/6) with the command Insert/Field/Numbers/Number of pages.

So as a result I have 6 pages numbered except the cover page and the
rest of the document is numbered correctly. So I have 7 pages (6 +
cover page) and my pages footer reads "Page 1/7", "Page 2/7"... and
the last one "Page 6/7", that is what I said, but not what I wanted.
How can I fix it? I mean, I would think that there should be a way to
write the number of pages minus 1, but i can't figure out how to do
this.

Could someone please give me a basic step-by-step instruction for
doing this? Or point me in the direction of existing instructions?

(I'm running 2.4.4 in spanish on Windows XP professional edition)

Thanks a lot!

Javi

P.S.: My apologizes for my caveman english! :P
